About FindMattress
FindMattress is an independent mattress matcher for US shoppers. We compare mattresses across brands and point you to the few that fit how you sleep, what you weigh, what you can spend and what matters to you, whether that's cooling, edge support or a quiet bed for two.
We're a small editorial team that got tired of mattress shopping feeling like a maze. Most mattress quizzes are run by a single brand and only ever recommend that brand. Ours compares across brands, because the right answer for you might come from any of them.
What we do
The heart of the site is our 60-second mattress quiz. You answer a few questions about your sleep position, body weight, firmness preference, budget and needs, and we match you to specific mattresses from different brands, with a plain explanation of why each one fits.
Around the quiz, we publish:
- "Best mattress for" lists for specific sleepers, such as side sleepers, back pain and hot sleepers
- Mattress profiles that explain how each model feels on paper, who it suits and who should skip it
- Brand-vs-brand comparisons for shoppers deciding between two finalists
- Buying guides on the questions everyone has, from how to choose a mattress to mattress sizes
Our goal is to give you a straight answer, including who a mattress is not right for.
How we research mattresses
Our recommendations are research-based. We gather each mattress's specs, prices, trial lengths and warranties from manufacturers, and we draw on firmness and performance ratings published by independent mattress testers. We turn that research into consistent ratings so you can compare models side by side.
We want to be clear about one thing: we have not physically tested every mattress on this site. When we describe how a mattress feels, we're drawing on specs, independent testing and owner reports, and we say so. We plan to add our own hands-on testing over time, and we'll label it clearly when we do.

How we make money
FindMattress is free to use. We earn money through affiliate commissions: when you click a link to a mattress company or retailer and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. You don't pay anything extra.
Those commissions pay for our research and keep the site running. They never decide our rankings. You can read the details in our affiliate disclosure.
Our editorial independence
- No pay-to-rank. Brands can't pay for a spot in our quiz results, our lists or our comparisons.
- Commission rates don't affect rankings. Some brands pay more than others. Our picks are based on fit and research, not on which company pays us most.
- We include mattresses we don't earn from. If a mattress is the right fit, we'll recommend it whether or not we have an affiliate relationship with its maker.
- We name trade-offs. Every mattress has someone it doesn't suit, and we say who.
- We keep data current. Prices and policies change often. Each page shows when its data was last checked.
