The TEMPUR-Adapt is the entry tier of Tempur-Pedic's Adapt collection, sold at retailers as Adapt 2.0. It's an 11" bed made with TEMPUR-ES and original TEMPUR-Material under a cool-to-touch cover. It's available as all-foam Medium or as a Medium Hybrid with about 1,000 wrapped coils. Testers rate the all-foam version 7.5 out of 10. That makes this firmer than its "Medium" label suggests. This Tempur-Pedic Adapt review finds it ideal for couples and anyone who wants deep pressure relief. Hot sleepers should be cautious.
Best for: Back sleepers · Side sleepers · Couples · Back pain · Luxury
What we like
- Pressure relief rated 5/5 from dense, slow-moving TEMPUR-Material
- Motion isolation rated 5/5, a top choice for light sleepers
- Supportive 7.5/10 feel despite the "Medium" name
- Hybrid version available, and made in the USA
Watch out for
- Cooling rated only 2/5, the lowest score in our dataset
- Very low bounce (2/5) makes changing position and sex harder work
- 90-night trial is the shortest here, with a 10-year warranty
- About $2,199 for a queen at list price
TEMPUR-Adapt feel and firmness
This is the classic Tempur feel. You sink slowly, the material molds to you, and then it holds you firmly. The 7.5/10 rating sounds firm, but the deep contouring makes it feel cushioned at pressure points while staying firm underneath. RTINGS scored its responsiveness 3.4 out of 10, which matches the slow, "in the bed" sensation.
TEMPUR-ES is the softer, quicker-responding version of Tempur's material, and the original TEMPUR-Material beneath it is denser. That combination is why the bed feels cushioned at first and firmer as you sink in. Tempur-Pedic makes it in the USA.
Best (and worst) sleeping positions
Back sleepers get strong, even support. Side sleepers are well served too, because the 5/5 pressure relief eases shoulders and hips even at this firmness. Many people with back pain like this combination, but check with a doctor or physical therapist if pain persists. Combination sleepers who roll often may struggle against the slow foam. Stomach sleepers can work with a 7.5, but they may notice the hips sinking into the foam over the night.
Cooling, motion and edges
Motion isolation is a perfect 5, so a partner's movement barely registers. Edges are a solid 4. Cooling is the weak point at 2. The cover feels cool to the touch at first, but dense TEMPUR foam holds heat. If you sleep hot, the Medium Hybrid's coils may help, though we don't have separate ratings for it.
Price, trial and warranty
Tom's Guide lists the all-foam queen at about $2,199, often on sale for around $1,899. The Medium Hybrid queen was seen at a retailer for about $2,600. The 90-night trial is the shortest in our dataset, and the warranty is 10 years. Tempur-Pedic's policies are less generous than its online-brand rivals.
The 90-night trial is the main risk. Memory foam this dense can take a few weeks to get used to, so give it time, but keep a close eye on the return deadline.
How it compares
Sleep Number vs Tempur-Pedic is the classic premium matchup of adjustable air and dense foam. Nectar vs Tempur-Pedic shows what you give up for about a third of the price. Saatva vs Tempur-Pedic suits hot sleepers who want luxury without the heat. Casper vs Tempur-Pedic covers a mid-range all-foam alternative. It also appears in our best memory foam mattress guide.

Our verdict
The TEMPUR-Adapt is the right pick if you want the deepest pressure relief and near-total motion isolation, and you don't sleep hot. Skip it if you run warm, change position often, or want a long trial. Its 2/5 cooling and 90-night trial are real downsides at this price.

Questions about the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Adapt
Is the TEMPUR-Adapt firm or soft?
It's sold as Medium, but testers rate the all-foam version 7.5 out of 10. The dense foam molds closely to your body, so pressure points feel cushioned while the overall support is firm.
Does the TEMPUR-Adapt sleep hot?
It's the warmest-rated bed in our dataset, with a cooling score of 2 out of 5. The cool-to-touch cover helps at first, but the dense foam traps heat. Hot sleepers should consider the Medium Hybrid version or a coil or latex bed.
What's the difference between the TEMPUR-Adapt Medium and Medium Hybrid?
Both use TEMPUR-ES and TEMPUR-Material comfort layers. The Medium Hybrid adds about 1,000 wrapped coils for more bounce and airflow, and costs more. The all-foam Medium isolates motion best.
