The Amerisleep AS2 is a 12" all-foam bed made in the USA. It has 2" of plant-based Bio-Pur memory foam, a 3" HIVE 5-zone transition layer and a 7" Bio-Core base under a Refresh cooling cover. Amerisleep calls it a 6 out of 10, but Mattress Clarity rated it 7.5, so it's firmer than the brand suggests. This Amerisleep AS2 review finds it a well-built option for back and stomach sleepers, including those with lower-back discomfort. Side sleepers should look elsewhere.
Best for: Back sleepers · Stomach sleepers · Back pain
What we like
- 5-zone HIVE support firms up under the hips and eases off at the shoulders
- A firm 7.5/10 feel suits back and stomach sleepers
- More responsive than typical memory foam (bounce estimated 3/5)
- 20-year warranty, ACA endorsed and fiberglass-free
Watch out for
- Firmer than Amerisleep's own 6/10 rating
- Mattress Clarity says it is not for side sleepers, and pressure relief is estimated at 3/5
- About $1,549 for a queen at list price, with no confirmed sale price
- 100-night trial
Amerisleep AS2 feel and firmness
At 7.5 out of 10 the AS2 is in firm territory. The Bio-Pur memory foam gives some contouring, but it springs back faster than traditional memory foam. You'll feel firm, zoned support below. If you shopped by Amerisleep's 6/10, expect a firmer bed than you planned for.
The HIVE layer is what sets the AS2 apart. It's a 3" foam layer divided into five zones, designed to be softer under the shoulders and firmer under the hips and lower back. Zoning won't turn a 7.5 into a side-sleeper bed, but it makes back sleeping feel a little more contoured than a flat, unzoned firm foam bed.
Best (and worst) sleeping positions
Back sleepers over about 130 lbs are the best fit, with the zoned layer helping keep the lower back from sagging. Stomach sleepers up to about 230 lbs get the firm hip support they need. Many people with lower-back discomfort like a firm, zoned surface, but see a doctor or physical therapist for persistent pain. Side sleepers are the poor fit. Mattress Clarity says it isn't for them, and a 7.5 will press on the shoulders.
Cooling, motion and edges
Cooling scores 4, helped by the Refresh cover and the plant-based foam's quicker recovery. Edges are a 4, solid for an all-foam bed. Motion isolation is also 4, so couples should rarely be disturbed.
Price, trial and warranty
Amerisleep lists the queen at about $1,549, and we couldn't confirm a typical sale price. You get a 100-night trial. The 20-year warranty includes 10 years of full coverage and 10 prorated.
Without a typical sale price to compare, look closely at value. The AS2's list price is close to the Helix Dawn's and well above the Nectar Classic's usual sale price. You're paying for the zoned layer, the plant-based foams and the 20-year warranty, so decide whether those features matter to you.
How it compares
The Nectar Classic has the same 7.5 rating but no zoning. It's often far cheaper and comes with a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty. The Helix Dawn is a firm hybrid with 5/5 edges and more bounce. Casper The One is slightly softer at 7/10 with 5/5 motion isolation. The AS2 also appears in our best mattress for back sleepers roundup.

Our verdict
The Amerisleep AS2 is a well-built firm foam bed with zoned support, a good fit for back and stomach sleepers who want more than a basic foam slab. Skip it if you sleep on your side or want the best value. The Nectar Classic offers similar firmness for much less with longer policies.

What warranty does Amerisleep offer on the AS2?
